Head of Engineering

• Technology Leadership:
  • Oversee and manage the company's technology infrastructure, including backend systems built on popular PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel or similar).
  • Ensure seamless integration between our backend, mobile applications, web applications, and IoT devices.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements, such as MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, and Headless) architectures, and advise management on strategic implementations that align with business objectives.
  • Focus on leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency, accelerate growth, automate processes, and improve customer experience.
• Team Management and Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor the engineering team, including senior and junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with external developers, agencies, or freelancers to address technical challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure technology efforts support overall business goals.
• Infrastructure Oversight:
  • Ensure backend systems are up-to-date with the latest versions and security patches.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure management (e.g., AWS or similar services), focusing on performance optimization, cost efficiency, and robust security measures.
  • Manage access control and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge bases.
• Operational Support:
  • Provide strategic guidance for resolving operational issues promptly.
  • Implement efficient processes for incident response and problem resolution.
  • Oversee the maintenance and security of office networks and hardware for approximately 25 office employees and 80 retail frontlines.
• Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with the company's vision and growth plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and frameworks that offer tangible business value.
  • Ensure all technological developments focus on key objectives, such as operational efficiency and customer experience, rather than non-essential features.

• Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven experience managing technology infrastructures, including backend systems using PHP frameworks and cloud services like AWS.
  • Familiarity with IoT integrations and modern architectural approaches (e.g., MACH).
• Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of PHP, Laravel (or similar frameworks), cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices.
